Pediatric Stroke Research Center Projects
Brain Recovery Education Initiative
This initiative's mission is to innovate tailored, dynamic cognitive rehabilitation programs within an educational framework for children recovering from acquired brain injury (ABI) in order to maximize their outcomes using a multidisciplinary approach. BREd recognizes that there is inseparable overlap in the medical, mental health, and educational needs in this population. BREd aims to create a system where recovery is supported after discharge and not dependent on family means. UCSF is a leader in critical care and BREd will expand this expertise to become a leader in brain recovery.
International Pediatric Stroke Organization
Founded in February 2019, IPSO is an organization of health professionals and scientists who care about stroke and other cerebrovascular diseases in childhood. IPSO developed out of its original collaborative network, the International Pediatric Stroke Study (IPSS), and now aims to broaden the scope of its mission beyond research to improve the lives of children worldwide with cerebrovascular disease through education, clinical care and advocacy as well.
